It has been a wild week for James Wiseman of the Detroit Pistons.

He was a member of the Golden State Warriors until last Wednesday when the NBA trade deadline saw him moving to Detroit to try his luck with a new team.

For Wiseman, the departure from Golden State gave him a second chance in the league after a rough start to the year.

Wiseman played his first game for the Pistons on Wednesday night and scored 11 points and 5 rebounds in 23 minutes of play.

Wiseman entered the game toward the end of the first quarter and immediately got to work.

He was looking good but admitted after the game that he wants to spend the All-Star break focusing on conditioning and getting in shape and ready to compete even more.

11 points is a promising start for Wiseman, who was averaging just 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds a game during this season with the Warriors.

It’s even more impressive when you consider that he had only one practice session with the Pistons before Wednesday because he was part of the trade package that was put on hold as Gary Payton II underwent physical evaluations.

Before Wednesday’s game, Wiseman had only participated in two of the last 21 games for Golden State and he hasn’t played for more than 20 minutes since December.

Wiseman was the number two overall pick in 2020 but he has yet to deliver on his potential.

He played well in his first season but missed all of his second due to injury.

Upon returning to the court, he wasn’t doing a lot for the Warriors which led to his move across the country.

Now he’s ready to get better, prove himself, and remind fans of his potential.
