Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers were very hopeful that GM Rob Pelinka would make some impressive changes to the roster at the NBA trade deadline.

Those fans were likely pleased with Pelinka’s accomplishments.

The team got to work and traded for a few big stars last week, including D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Mo Bamba, and more.

He also sent away other athletes like Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley.

While Pelinka and his staff were in charge of these changes, he apparently conferred with a couple of very important people: LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Jovan Buha reports that Pelinka said he “checked in” with both James and Davis regarding all of the moves the team was making ahead of the deadline.

Therefore, every trade that the Lakers committed to were signed off on by the two biggest stars on the roster.

This isn’t all that surprising when you consider the value of James and Davis.

They are clearly the center of the team.

For months now, we have heard that the Lakers planned to build a strong team around both of these superstars.

They wanted to craft a crew that could work well with James and Davis and helps them reach the playoffs.

Now, will they actually be able to do that?

The first game for the new stars was pretty promising as the Lakers took down the Golden State Warriors, 109-103, with Russell and Beasley doing well while newcomer Jarred Vanderbilt also scored 12 points and had 8 rebounds.

James is still out with an injury so fans are eager to see how these new recruits play with him when he is back on the floor.

That is when they will truly judge Pelinka’s big moves.
