The Chicago Bears spent plenty of draft capital to get quarterback Justin Fields back in 2021.

With 2022 being his first full season as starting quarterback, there are plenty of things to grade him on.

So what grade does he get this season as the team heads towards the offseason?

B- Overall This Season

With Fields finally getting a full season as the starting quarterback, fans are seeing exactly what he’s able to accomplish.

His 2022 season so far is worthy of a B- grade.

While some might see it as harsh, and others as too generous, his 2022 season is a solid B-.

Some of his highlights come from him running the ball.

The way he’s been making plays with his legs in 2022 has him looking like Lamar Jackson.

With 1,011 rushing yards so far, he’s less than 200 yards away from breaking Jackson’s single-season rushing record.

However, there are issues with Fields that prevent him from getting a higher grade.

The first is his inability to read defensive pressure.

Even when he’s in a clean pocket, he panics and runs with the ball.

While this has gotten him some big plays, it normally ends with defensive players sacking him.

With a poor reading of his pocket, he makes mistakes that end up costing the Bears.

And speaking of mistakes, he’s still having issues protecting the ball.

His 10 interceptions this season tie his career high from last season.

While he’s making improvements in other areas of his passing game, like touchdowns and yards per attempt, he’s still throwing too many interceptions.

These things lead him to getting a B- grade.
