Rodrigo has impressed this season after an underwhelming first two seasons for the Spaniard

It has taken some time for Rodrigo to hit a consistent patch of form after joining Leeds United two seasons ago with big expectations.

But the Leeds forward has impressed this season having scored six and setting up one in his first 11 games, showing the Leeds support why he was purchased.

Having equalled his season tally from last season already, Rodrigo may be the one to drag Leeds’s fortunes away from the relegation battle this season if his form continues.

Liverpool FC – Roberto Firmino

Roberto Firmino has found super scoring form as he has been Liverpool’s saviour this season

A player that many thought should be moved on from Liverpool’s famous deadly three last season has re-emerged this season showcasing scoring abilities that have not been seen by the Brazilian for some time.

With Sadio Mane leaving for Bayern Munich and Mohamed Salah not in top form Liverpool has needed a goalscoring outlet, which Roberto Firmino has duly responded to.

Firmino has proved to be vital for the reds this season dispatching six and assisting three, proving he still has plenty more to offer to Liverpool than just his ability to drop deep and provide for his fellow attackers.

Manchester City FC – Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland has made the Premier League his playground since joining the defending champions

Erling Haaland is well and truly enjoying his start to life in England’s top flight, scoring goals at a rate the Premier League has never seen before.

With seventeen goals and three assists in eleven starts, the Norweigan would only need six more in Manchester City’s remaining 28 games to equal Son Heung-Min and Mohamed Salah’s golden boot total of 23 last season.

While many expected Haaland to be successful before the start of the season, not many would have predicted goal-scoring at this rate leaving the probability of a Premier League ballon d’Or winner this season being as high as ever.

Manchester United FC – Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martinez has been nothing short of a superb piece of business for the Red Devils after an impressive succession of defensive performances

Labeled as ‘too short‘ to play at centre-back in the Premier League, Lisandro Martinez has defied the critics by performing at a consistently high level since the 4-0 embarrassment at Brentford earlier in the season.

What the Argentinian lacks in height he makes up for with aggression and passion as he has formed a strong partnership with fellow centre-back Raphael Varane.

All in all, it looks as if Manchester United has done a good bit of business getting Martinez through the door, showing that it takes more than just height to compete in the Premier League.

Newcastle United – Miguel Almiron

Miguel Almiron has set St. James Park on fire this season scoring a succession of wonder strikes

It was only so long ago that Miguel Almiron was being used by Jack Grealish as a benchmark for poor performances, however ‘playing like Almiron‘ would suggest something very different than was meant at the time of the remark due to Almiron’s performances this season.

The Paraguayan looks like a different player this season after struggling to make an impact in his first four Premier League seasons and would only need two more goals this season to match the amount that he has scored in his previous four seasons combined.

The quality of strikes that the 28-year-old has dispatched this season have also been of high quality as fans around the country wonder what exactly has caused this unexpected explosion in form.

Nottingham Forest – Dean Henderson

Nottingham Forest Loanee Dean Henderson has put on some special performances this season

It is safe to say that Dean henderson backs himself as a Premier league goalkeeper and from what he has shown this season in a poor Nottingham Forest side, the self-belief that he has displayed is warranted.

Most notably Henderson performed spectacularly in the 1-0 victory against Liverpool where Henderson was given man of the match for the quality of saves he made in a vital three points for the ‘tricky trees’.

While Nottingham Forest do have the joint worst defensive record in the league, if it were not for key stops by Dean Henderson it could be much worse than the 28 goals that they have conceded so far.

Southampton FC – Mohammed Salisu

Mohammed Salisu has been a consistent performer for the Saints this season

Mohammed Salisu has been one of Southampton’s brightest performers this season as he has consistently played to a high level in a relatively inconsistent side.

The 23-year-old is quietly going about his business at St. Mary’s as the centre-back has generated very little conversation about him for one of the best young talents in the division.

The Ghananian has had high praise by manager Ralph Hassenhuttl claiming that Salisu is: “against the ball, one of the best defenders in the league.”

Tottenham Hotspur FC – Eric Dier

Eric Dier has been an ever-present for Tottenham Hotspur this season

Ever since the arrival of Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur, Eric Dier has been the best centre-back at the club erasing big errors from his game.

The formation switch to a back three with supporting wingbacks has been crucial for Dier’s recent development, as he has cover each side of him allowing him to play his best football.

The 28-year-old has played himself back into the England international setup and has also added goals to his repertoire scoring two this season to further compliment his solid defensive performances.

West Ham United – Aaron Cresswell

Aaron Cresswell has been a standout performer for the Hammers this campaign

West Ham United left-back Aaron Cresswell has been one of the most consistent players for the club this season as they are currently navigating an unexpected poor start.

Despite having no assists Cresswell has provided the second most chances created for a full-back this season behind Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier.

Many believed that Cresswell was a player that West Ham may need to replace if they were to continue pushing the higher echelons of the Premier league on a more consistent basis, but this season Cresswell has been one of ‘the irons’ best performers.

Wolverhampton Wanderers – Nathan Collins

Nathan Collins has been one of the little sparks in a dim season for Wolverhampton Wanderers fans

Despite being in a Wolverhampton Wanderers side that has been struggling this season young centre-back Nathan Collins has been a pleasant surprise to Wolves fans.

The transition out of a back three has been a tough one this season as the strong defensive record from last season has seen a significant decline.

However, Collins has shown promising signs of a bright future regardless of the lack of protection and if the Irishman can continue to learn and progress Wolverhampton could just a have a centre-back on their hands.
