Former Boston Red Sox utilityman Brock Holt announced via Instagram that he is calling it quits.
After a successful career that yielded two World Series rings and some curious achievements, Holt is retiring.

Holt was an important member of the 2018 Red Sox team that won the Fall Classic against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
However, as it turns out, he is also in possession of a ring for their 2013 title.
Holt started the 2013 season with the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox.
He made his debut for Boston after getting called up on July 6 in Anaheim.
That season, he took part in 26 games, hitting .203 with 11 RBI.
He wasn’t a member of the playoff roster but his team went on to win the World Series.
He stayed in Boston until 2019, and also played for the Milwaukee Brewers, the Washington Nationals, and the Texas Rangers.
He last played in MLB in 2021.
A Solid Career
In March 2022, he signed a minor-league contract with the Atlanta Braves.
However, just before the start of the regular season, he requested and was granted his release.
He has the rare distinction of hitting for the cycle two times, one in 2015, and the other one in the 2018 postseason.
He owns the only cycle in postseason history, and it came against the Red Sox’s bitter rivals: the New York Yankees.
He was also named to the 2015 All-Star team.
Holt is retiring with some great memories and a fruitful career doing what he loved: playing baseball.
He left a pretty solid .262 batting average, with 25 home runs and 234 RBI.
He was extremely valuable for his managers because of his ability to play multiple positions, making him the perfect utilityman.
He is now about to enjoy retirement with his family.
