The New York Yankees are the most successful franchise in MLB.
They won World Series championships in nearly all decades, but enjoyed particularly successful periods in the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.
Even the 1960s were fruitful for them.
With their winning Wednesday, they secured yet another winning season, the 30th in a row dating back to 1993.
That’s actually the third-longest streak of winning seasons in the history of the four major American professional sports.
The Montreal Canadiens had 32 consecutive winning seasons in the NHL, from 1952 to 1983.
That’s good for second place.

The Yankees Haven’t Had A Losing Season Since The Early 1990s
From 1926 to 1964, the Yankees didn’t have a losing season.
That’s 39 consecutive campaigns filled with victories, success, and lots of World Series championships.
It helps when Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, and other prominent figures of baseball history were part, at one point, of the team in those 39 seasons.
The Yankees are known for going all-in every season, building a roster capable of competing for a playoff spot year after year.
Even when they don’t make the playoffs, they finish over .500.
The last time that didn’t happen was in 1992.
With their current core, especially if they can re-sign Aaron Judge to a long-term contract after the season, it’s fair to say they would be in a good position to extend their streak.
Reaching 39 or 40 at some point within the next decade will be extremely hard, but it’s entirely realistic.
Nine or ten years from now, we may be in for some history in the major American professional sports.
