South & Central America’s food industry IT hiring activity drops 15.1% in August 2022


South & Central America witnessed a 15.1% drop in IT hiring activity in the food industry in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2022 has seen an increase of 5.61% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 1.74% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2022, registering a decrease of 0.44% over the last three-month average share.

Computer and Information Analysts Occupations leads by classification in August 2022

Computer and Information Analysts Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 39.13% in August 2022, a 30.77% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 21.74% in August 2022, marking a 66.67% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 17.39% in August 2022, a 60% drop from July 2022.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers registered a share of 17.39% in August 2022, a 33.33% decline over the previous month.

Top five food companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 14.81% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s food industry during August 2022 over previous month.

BRF posted 12 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered an increase of 33.33% over the previous month, followed by Nestle with 3 jobs and a 62.5% drop. JBS with 3 IT jobs and Mars with 3 jobs, recorded a 62.5% drop and a 50% rise, respectively, while Bunge recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during August 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s food industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s food industry IT hiring activity with an 86.96% share in August 2022, a 17.65% increase over July 2022. Chile featured next with an 8.7% share, flat growth over the previous month. Argentina recorded a 4.35% share, a drop of 80% compared with July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 78.26%, down by 28% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 17.39% share, registered a growth of 33.33% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 4.35% share, down 93.33% over July 2022.
