United Kingdom’s food industry IT recruitment activity drops 0.6% in July 2022


The UK’s food industry registered a 0.6% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 10.34% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the food industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.05% share in July 2022, recording a flat growth over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s food industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s food industry in July 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 66.67% in July 2022, registering a 42.86% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 16.67% share, a decrease of 66.67% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 7.14%, registering a 70% decline from June 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.14%, up 200% over the previous month.

Top five food companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 50% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s food industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. posted 25 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a drop of 34.21% over the previous month, followed by Roofoods with 4 jobs and an 88.57% drop. Bakkavor Group with 4 IT jobs and Greencore Group with 2 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 100% growth, respectively, while HelloFresh recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 92.86%, down by 40% from June 2022. Entry Level positions with a 7.14% share, registered a decline of 76.92% compared with the previous month.
