A recognizable face at Wimbledon will face someone unfamiliar with the men’s singles final at London’s All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, who owns six Wimbledon titles and has won the last three men’s tournaments, will play Australia’s Nick Kyrgios, who is making his first Grand Slam final appearance, for the title.
Top-seeded Djokovic reached his eighth Wimbledon final after a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Cameron Norrie in the semifinals.
Unseeded Kyrgios advanced to the final after 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal withdrew from the tournament due to a seven-millimeter abdominal tear. Kyrgios said he was “disappointed” with the withdrawal, which gave him a walkover to the final, although he’s afforded extra days of rest compared to his competitor. Kyrgios’ deepest run previously at Wimbledon in singles was a quarterfinal appearance in 2014.
