Season 4 of Strangers Things recently premiered and it has already broken the record for the highest weekly total for any streaming title.

The show has managed 7.2 billion minutes of viewing time for the week of May 30-June 5.

The Nielsen Streaming Record counts all episodes of a series when totaling its streaming rankings but since so many of the views came after the release of Season 4, most views are attributed to it.

The show also holds the record for most watched English language series on Netflix through the Nielsen rating system.

The views also come from catch-up views, which occur when viewers go back and rewatch episodes before or after watching the newest ones.

Some viewers will also watch the seasons leading up to the newest season if they have never watched it before. This allows them to get caught up so they can watch the newest season and understand the storyline.

Fans were very vocal about the new season, which has proven to be the most emotional yet. Twitter blew up with fans reacting to the various episodes and the ending.

Many expressed their sadness over the loss of certain characters, others voiced how impressed they were with the overall acting of the season, and many said they couldn’t wait for the next season but were sad that it might be a few years.

Views are continuing to rise and it’s likely that upcoming shows will have a hard time beating this record.
