NFL Bestows A New Honor Upon Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens aren’t used to missing the playoffs since Lamar Jackson became their starting quarterback.

They have been postseason participants often since he took over under center and it’s clear that the league hasn’t figured him out yet.

It took an ankle injury on the versatile play-caller for the Ravens to miss last season’s playoffs.

If he played the entire regular season, the Ravens wouldn’t have experienced the six-game losing streak that kicked them out of contention.

When he was still playing early in the season, Jackson was making a strong case for league MVP because he had to play at a high level to give Baltimore a chance to win.

He also helped establish the team’s running attack after losing Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins to season-ending injuries.

If not for his injury, the former Louisville standout might have had his third 1,000-yard season from the ground.

Even if he fell short of that mark, the league decided to honor him as their Twitter cover photo.

Jackson is working his way back to full strength and that could spell trouble for the rest of the league.

Aside from taking off by himself when the play isn’t working, he has also shown consistency in the passing game.

The Ravens offense might be unconventional but Jackson makes it work.

Ravens executives might have seen this photo which somehow serves as an alert on what they need to be done.

Jackson still has no contract extension in play and the calendar is going towards the start of training camp.

It’s imperative for both sides to discuss the contract situation now in order to finalize a deal before the season starts.

Perhaps the only detail they haven’t agreed upon is the annual average given the surge in the quarterback market this offseason.
