The Washington Commanders made sure that they will have wide receiver Terry McLaurin during his peak years.

Despite their ever-changing scenery at quarterback, the former Ohio State standout continued to deliver for the NFC East squad.

He is coming off consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and has missed only three games in his first three seasons.

That’s why the Commanders gave him a three-year, $71 million contract extension that keeps him in Washington until 2025.

The Commanders had to get a deal done before training camp arrives because it would be difficult to negotiate a contract with him during the season.

Likewise, he will be playing the final year of his rookie contract in 2022 and he’s not eligible for a fifth-year option.

McLaurin’s new deal gives him $53.1 million in guaranteed money, which includes a $28 million signing bonus.

He also gets a $250,000 bonus every time he makes a Pro Bowl roster.

McLaurin does have the talent to become one of the league’s best wideouts.

If you’re still not convinced, this video should erase any doubt about “Scary Terry.”

In this short clip, McLaurin was able to get past Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Michael Davis.

He kept his stride but noticed that the ball was under-thrown.

That forced him to decelerate and twist his body to make the catch.

Aside from his contortionist move, the challenge from safety Nasir Adderley added to the degree of difficulty.

McLaurin And Wentz Must Develop Good Chemistry

McLaurin can only do so much because he relies on the quarterback’s calls.

Therefore, he and potential starter Carson Wentz should understand each other’s tendencies.

Knowing what the other person is thinking will help them succeed.

That way, McLaurin gets to put up solid numbers and give the Commanders a better shot at winning.
