San Francisco Giants left-hander Carlos Rodon was involved in a weird incident last night.

After allowing a home run, he came in to his dugout and kicked a bat in frustration.

That bat hit teammate Thairo Estrada in the leg, around the knee, and he was obviously in pain.

It’s just another proof that controlling our emotions is a crucial life tool.

If we let them beat us, bad things will happen more often than not, and we will likely end up regretting what we did.

Fortunately, Rodon managed it like a man when he talked to the media about the incident.

“Carlos Rodón: ‘Unacceptable action. I hit a teammate — probably the nicest teammate on our team. Just a selfish action that is unacceptable and cannot happen and I take every amount of it. It cannot happen. I just feel stupid,’” The Athletic’s Andrew Baggarly tweeted.

What We Do After Making Mistakes Defines Us

We can all make mistakes, but how we deal with them is what defines us.

A few weeks ago, Chris Sale beat up a TV in anger, and later said that was who he was and the reason he got as far as he did.

He failed to own up to his mistake.

Rodon, on the other hand, was far more apologetic after he hurt a teammate because of his actions.

He was frustrated because he was having command issues that led to a couple of homers and ruined what could have been a great outing.

He struck out 10 hitters in six frames, but allowed five runs.

He was angry at himself, but didn’t react in the best of ways.

The issue is now probably behind Rodon, Estrada, and his teammates, but it was an ugly scene.
