The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the best defensive teams in the league.

Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan have always built their teams starting with the defense, and this year won’t be an exception to that rule.

According to NFL insider Andrew Fillipponi, the Steelers are going to keep tabs on CB Jeff Okudah, S Jordan Whitehead, and LB Willie Gay Jr. in free agency.

He adds that they could also go after LB Patrick Queen, albeit that would be a bit of a long shot.

The Steelers have one of the best — if not the best — defensive players in the league in T.J. Watt, and Alex Highsmith is the perfect complement by his side.

Then again, perhaps it’s time they put in some work and add some assets on the other side of the field.

Their offense has been mediocre at best more often than not, and while Matt Canada had plenty to do with that, he could only do so much with the hand he was given.

Despite having some promising playmakers and skill players on offense, the Steelers’ quarterback situation has been far from good since Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement.

They’re reportedly keeping tabs on Russell Wilson and could bring him in as some veteran competition for Kenny Pickett, and that might be just what he needs to take a leap forward.

Otherwise, this team won’t be able to compete at a high level, regardless of who they bring on defense or how many superstars they stack up on defense.
