The reigning King Felipe VI has distanced himself from his unpopular father, Juan Carlos. Under duress, the former king moved for two years to Abu Dhabi after scandals involving, but not limited to, Saudi cash and an elephant hunting trip to Botswana with his mistress. The king is happier when his father is far away. But the Spanish royals are distant cousins to Queen Elizabeth II, and Felipe and Juan Carlos knew her well. Both men said they would attend her funeral. There will be a lot of eyes following the Spanish family drama, along with the Windsor’s.
