For all Cleveland sports fans, 2016 will always be special for them.

The same is true for Cavaliers legend and current Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James.

James recently appeared on “New Heights” with Jason and Travis Kelce to talk about why the championship that he won in 2016 with the Cavs is his favorite championship out of the four total that he has won.

“There’s nothing better for me than that Cleveland one just because of everything…That’s why you saw the emotion,” James said on Wednesday.

As James noted, it was a significant championship for many reasons.

The Cavaliers had zero championships under their belt, and the city of Cleveland had not won a professional championship in the 52 years prior.

To win the championship, they had to come back from being down 3-1 in the series to the 73-9 Golden State Warriors, which is the best regular season team in NBA history based on record.

That Warriors squad had the likes of Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andre Iguodala on it.

James’s personal connection to the city and the team made it that much more meaningful and special in the end.

Thanks to big-time plays by James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, etc., this Cavs team was able to scratch and claw its way to glory.

Much like the Chicago Cubs ended their championship drought in the same season, the Cavaliers took a page out of their book by winning in dramatic fashion in the final game of the series.
