This house, in the Tahquitz Shadow Estates gated community, has four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms and was designed by the architect Dennis McGuire. Elements of the landscape were incorporated into the structure, including boulders that protrude into the living spaces. The house is being sold fully furnished.

Idyllwild’s small downtown, with a brewery, a handful of restaurants and a grocery store, is five minutes away by car, as are several trailheads. Reaching San Bernardino or Riverside takes under 90-minutes by car.

A hallway off the living room, with a slatted wood accent wall, reaches two of the home’s three bedrooms, including the primary suite. The bedroom has dark green wallpaper with a gold leaf motif and accordion-style doors to the patio. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and glossy black tile.

The guest room next door has deep blue walls and a street-facing window. A bathroom, also off the hall, has a combined tub and shower. The other guest room, off the kitchen and dining area, has pink walls and its own set of patio-facing accordion doors.

Yountville, St. Helena, and Zinfandel are all within a half-hour drive and Sonoma takes 20 minutes. San Francisco and Sacramento are an hour away by car, as is Point Reyes National Seashore. Driving to Yosemite National Park takes three-and-a-half hours.

At the back of this floor is the kitchen, which has a white La Cornue range and exposed red brick. The Sub-Zero refrigerator has paneled doors, and a windowed sink overlooks the pool.

There are two bedrooms on this level, both off the living room. Each can take a queen-size bed and both have use of a bathroom with a claw foot soaking tub.

Steps lead from the back hallway up to the lofted primary suite with separate sitting and sleeping areas. A barn-style sliding door reveals a closet, and the full bathroom has a backyard-facing window.
