Justin Herbert Had A Wild Stat In Loss To The Texans

Justin Herbert Had A Wild Stat In Loss To The Texans

The Los Angeles Chargers’ exciting first season under head coach Jim Harbaugh came to a painful end on Saturday afternoon at the hands of the Houston Texans, who dismantled the Chargers 32-12 largely due to Justin Herbert’s awful day.

Herbert threw four picks on the day, the first time in his career he had ever thrown more than two in a game.

One unfathomable stat showed just how unlikely this type of performance was from a quarterback like him.

Ari Meirov shared on X that Herbert threw more interceptions on Saturday than he did all season after tossing just three in his full 17-game regular season slate.

That type of meltdown will stick with Herbert for a while until he at least wins a playoff game.

He is now 0-2 in the playoffs in his career and it will be a long offseason of searching for answers awaiting this franchise.

One obvious area for improvement is in the receiver department, as rookie Ladd McConkey had a jaw-dropping day with nine catches for 197 yards and a touchdown.

Outside of Ladd, all the other receiving options gave Herbert nothing to work with, with all other receivers combining for five catches, the most damaging of which came from tight end Will Dissly, who not only dropped a crucial long first-down conversion but also handed a backbreaking 4th quarter interception to Derek Stingley Jr. off another drop that essentially sealed the game.

Sophomore first-round pick Quentin Johnston didn’t catch a pass, and it’s obvious this team needs to get Herbert some more help this offseason at both the receiver and tight end spots.
