The Atlanta Braves made the postseason for the seventh consecutive season in 2024 after finishing with a record of 89-73 and coming in second place in the National League East.

Although the Braves snuck into the playoffs with a wild-card spot, they were swept in the wild-card series by the San Diego Padres.

After winning the World Series in 2021, the Braves made the playoffs for the next three seasons but failed to advance past the National League Division Series.

This offseason, the Braves have been relatively quiet with their only acquisition being Bryan De La Cruz, but that changed on Sunday.

According to MLB Insider Robert Murray on ‘X,’ the Braves and first baseman Garrett Cooper are in agreement on a minor league contract.

Although Cooper only signed a minor league contract with an invite to spring training, he has played in the MLB for eight seasons with five different teams.

Cooper came into the league in 2017 with the New York Yankees and played for the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox in 2024.

In 2024 between the Red Sox and Cubs, Cooper played 36 games where he batted .206 with one home run, 11 RBIs, and a .566 OPS.

Although Cooper’s numbers don’t jump off the page, he has hit double-digit home runs twice in his career.

The Braves dealt with a variety of injuries to their key players in 2024, but they still managed to make the postseason.
