Analyst Wants To See 1 Backup QB Take The Field In Playoffs

The Pittsburgh Steelers are staring down a crucial playoff matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, and head coach Mike Tomlin has made his choice between quarterbacks Justin Fields and Russell Wilson.

Despite Fields showing flashes of brilliance, Tomlin opted for Wilson’s playoff experience, banking on the veteran’s ability to perform in high-stakes situations.

However, not everyone agrees with this decision.

Former NFL coach Eric Mangini shared his differing perspective on “First Things First,” suggesting it’s time to give Fields meaningful playing time as the playoffs approach.

Mangini, who has consistently pushed for a two-quarterback rotation, believes Tomlin’s recent comments about Fields might be strategic misdirection aimed at making the Ravens prepare for both quarterbacks.

According to Mangini, Fields will likely remain in a backup role with occasional appearances – a decision he views as a missed opportunity.

Given the team’s ongoing struggles, he believes a change could provide the spark the Steelers need.

Fields’ journey with the Steelers began after his stint with the Chicago Bears, and he quickly made his presence felt.

Leading the team to an impressive 4-2 start, Fields showcased his dynamic playmaking ability and knack for improvisation.

His exciting style of play won over fans, who believed he had secured the starting quarterback position.

Yet the Steelers now face a classic dilemma: stick with Wilson’s proven playoff experience and leadership, or roll the dice with Fields’ explosive potential.

The decision carries extra weight as the team prepares for their postseason battle against the Ravens, with both quarterbacks bringing distinct qualities to the table.
