Blink and you may have missed Zion Williamson‘s return to the basketball court.
Not even a week into his return from injury, the forward has been suspended one game by the New Orleans Pelicans for a violation of team policies, the team announced Friday.
Williamson will miss the Pelicans’ road tilt against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night before rejoining the team on the weekend.
According to a report by ESPN’s Shams Charania, the 24-year-old was late for the team’s flight to Philadelphia, which prompted the suspension.
The former first-overall pick in 2019 made his long-awaited return on Tuesday from a hamstring injury that saw him miss 27 consecutive games. He was inactive on Wednesday for the second night of a back-to-back following his return.
Williamson has played in just seven games this year, averaging 22.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists and just over a steal and a block per game. In his return against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the two-time All-Star logged 22 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block in 28 minutes of action.
