The New England Patriots are looking for their next head coach after they parted ways with former head coach Jerod Mayo after just one season.
While former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel could be a hot name around New England, there is now a report that a familiar face could join his new coaching staff if he were to be hired.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, there is some buzz in some coaching circles that former Patriots offensive coordinator and former Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels could return to the Patriots as their offensive coordinator once again.

If McDaniels were to be hired as the team’s next offensive coordinator, it would be his third different stint with the organization.
His first stint (2001-2008) saw him working as a personnel assistant, a defensive assistant, and an offensive coordinator.
After leaving to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos and the offensive coordinator of the then-St. Louis Rams, McDaniels returned to New England as the offensive coordinator and stayed in that role for a decade (2012-2021).
Of course, he was hired as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022 but fired in 2023.
The six-time Super Bowl champion seems to always have a home in New England and, in the right situation, could return there soon.
Judging by the current situation, if Vrabel is the next head coach, that right situation could come in a few weeks.
