Peter King Names A Dark Horse NFL Coaching Candidate

With multiple NFL teams looking to get a new head coach, some will have to settle with whoever’s left.

There are only so many top-notch candidates available at this point.

NFL insider Peter King pointed out that Mike Vrabel, Ben Johnson, and Aaron Glenn are No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 on most teams’ lists, respectively.

However, in a recent chat with Jim Gray (via SiriusXM NFL Radio), he claimed that Jon Gruden has emerged as a potential dark horse candidate.

He claimed that while he didn’t know whether Gruden would get a job, several teams were doing their due diligence on him.

That’s not much of a surprise.

Gruden resigned as the head coach of the Raiders after some disturbing emails surfaced that he sent over the course of a seven-year period while he was employed as a broadcaster for ESPN.  He sought legal action against the league over the release of the emails.

On top of that, it’s not like he was doing well with the team.

While in charge of the Las Vegas Raiders, he made some questionable decisions, which set them back and led to the trading away of some of their best players.

It’s been almost two decades since he was one of the best coaches in the game.
