The New York Jets, like many teams across the NFL, are on the hunt for a new head coach.
Robert Saleh didn’t make it to the midpoint of the 2024 campaign, getting fired despite having Aaron Rodgers as his starting quarterback.
Rodgers didn’t have his best season, of course, but the Jets seemed to have issues on both sides of the ball.
With any luck, a new head coach and GM could help turn things in the right direction for this organization that hasn’t made the playoffs in over a decade.
They have already announced a few candidates to interview, including Josh McCown, as Harrison Glaser reported on X.

McCown has received much acclaim for what he’s done with Sam Darnold in the Minnesota Vikings organization and could have a lot of wisdom to impart as a head coach somewhere.
He played for the Jets from 2017-2018, so he already has familiarity with the system and organization, potentially making him a more natural fit than some outsiders that haven’t stepped foot in the building before.
McCown will be 46 years old at the start of the 2025 NFL season, meaning that he has plenty of life experience to share with players.
However, seeing how he has never been a head coach, and that he’s only been in the coaching system for a few years, the Jets will need to make sure he’s the right person for the job, even if they like him from his playing days.
