76ers Provide Update On Latest Joel Embiid Injury

[ad_1]

The Philadelphia 76ers are tipping off a three-game homestand against the Phoenix Suns.

Fresh off a road trip, they are aiming to build on their momentum following a commanding win against the Brooklyn Nets.

However, the injury report remains a concern with Joel Embiid out again, this time with a sprained foot.

“He hurt it a couple games ago and it’s been trying to get back in there but not good enough to go today. But, nothing major,” head coach Nick Nurse said, via Austin Krell.

The 76ers will be without Embiid and Kyle Lowry (hip) against the Suns.

Adding to their injury woes, Jared McCain is recovering from left lateral meniscus surgery, while KJ Martin continues to deal with a left foot stress reaction.

Embiid addressed the injury on Christmas, explaining he injured his left foot during the closing moments of their victory against the Boston Celtics.

Since then, he has been a regular fixture on the injury report as questionable. He previously sat out the Jan. 1 loss to the Sacramento Kings, missing the first of a back-to-back set.

Despite these setbacks, Embiid’s recent form has been nothing short of spectacular since his Dec. 23 ejection against the San Antonio Spurs.

His last five games showcase impressive numbers of 30.4 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

His shooting efficiency tells an equally compelling story, maintaining 50.0 percent from the field, 56.3 percent from 3-point range and 89.5 percent from the free-throw line.
