The New York Jets will be one of several NFL teams looking to fill a head coaching vacancy this offseason.

In an effort to salvage their 2024 season, the Jets decided to fire head coach Robert Saleh after the team struggled out of the gate.

Despite talent on both sides of the field, New York failed to stack wins, which eventually led to Saleh’s dismissal.

Since then, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich has been leading the way, though he ran into the same issues his predecessor had.

Ulbrich likely won’t be considered to remain as head coach, so an outside hire is expected.

Early on in the process, the Jets reportedly are interested in two former NFL head coaches who are currently offensive coordinators for playoff-bound teams.

I’m told the Jets have internally discussed interest in interviewing [Pittsburgh] Steelers OC Arthur Smith and [Washington] Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury for the head coach vacancy, per sources. Scheduling an actual interview is always a mutual decision, so we’ll see what occurs in this situation. Sources around the league have been talking about the perception of factors surrounding the Jets opening both positive, and not so positive,” Josina Anderson wrote on X.

Both Smith and Kingsbury have put their respective teams in position to make some noise in the postseason due to their offensive designs.

There aren’t any reports about their interest in the Jets’ job, though they most likely will end up talking to the organization.
