The Brooklyn Nets are open for business as they are engaging other NBA teams in trade negotiations for some of their players.
The Nets have already made a couple of trades during the 2024-25 NBA season, sending Dennis Schroder to the Golden State Warriors and most recently shipping Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton to the Los Angeles Lakers.
So far, Brooklyn has only been able to receive second-round picks for its veterans, but it holds a significant trade chip in forward Cameron Johnson, who’s having a career year.
Johnson is one of the most attractive trade targets in the NBA as he’s a tall forward who also is a knockdown 3-point shooter.
That type of player is highly coveted in today’s offensive game, and Johnson would be an immediate upgrade for every playoff contender.
So far, Brooklyn has yet to receive an offer it likes for Johnson, though two Western Conference teams reportedly are serious about adding him.
“The [Sacramento] Kings and [Oklahoma City] Thunder are in ‘hot pursuit’ of Cameron Johnson,” The Athletic reported, via Legion Hoops.

Sacramento is looking to salvage its season and could do so by trading for Johnson, while Oklahoma City is already considered the favorite to win the Western Conference and would bolster its odds even further if it lands the sharpshooter.
The Nets have been steadfast in their ask of multiple first-round picks for Johnson, so it’ll be interesting to see if the Kings or Thunder meet that price.
