For many years, the NFL draft has been a major event that fans mark on their calendars.
It is a multi-day event that brings hope to the league’s 32 franchises and marks the culmination of years of hard work, sweat and tears for dozens of players, as getting drafted means not only getting to play in the NFL but also being able to achieve instant financial security and generational wealth for their families.
It will be a big day for University of Colorado Boulder quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who is expected to be one of the first players taken, as well as for his father, Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who just happens to be his head coach at Colorado.
The younger Sanders said that instead of attending the draft in Green Bay, Wis, he will be in Colorado.

The 22-year-old had a dazzling season for the Buffaloes by throwing for 3,926 yards and 35 touchdowns while completing 74.2 percent of his pass attempts.
He led the team to a 9-4 record, but it narrowly missed the cut for the revamped College Football Playoff, and in the Alamo Bowl, it fell by 22 points to Brigham Young University.
The younger Sanders completed 16 of 23 pass attempts for 208 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions, which had led some to be mildly concerned about how he will handle the pressure of excelling in the NFL.
There is also no doubt that his father’s success as one of the game’s greatest defensive backs ever, not to mention the attention and media scrutiny that will create, will generate lots of additional pressure for him.
