2025 started on a bad note for the Detroit Pistons.
During their Wednesday night game against the Orlando Magic, Jaden Ivey collided with Cole Anthony and fell to the ground, writhing in pain.
He was eventually taken off the court on a stretcher.
On Thursday morning, Shams Charania reported that Ivey has sustained a broken fibula in his left leg.

This is a devastating injury for Ivey and a huge blow for the Pistons.
It’s too soon to tell how long he will be out of the rotation but the recovery from this kind of injury could take a long time.
In other words, this is probably a season-ending injury for the 22-year-old guard.
He’s been having a great season so far, averaging 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists on 46 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from the three-point line.
He had taken a big step forward this year and now all of that will have to be put on hold as he recovers.
The Pistons are performing much better than last season.
They are currently the ninth seed in the East with a 15-18 record and they could claim a playoff spot this season after making history with an abysmal record last year.
It’ll be a shame if they don’t get to play with Ivey anymore, considering he’s a huge reason for their current resurgence.
This is Ivey’s third season in the league and easily his best yet.
His future is still very bright and the Pistons will gladly welcome him back when he’s healed.
But we may have seen the last of Ivey in the 2024-25 season.
