On paper, the Chicago Bears could’ve and should’ve been one of the most improved teams in the league this season.
Even though there were some valid reasons to be concerned about Matt Eberflus, their defense was more than good enough.
On top of that, they added a promising prospect like Caleb Williams, and they gave him a plethora of weapons in the passing game.
Still, some people had doubts about their offensive line, and in the end, they were right.
That wasn’t much of a surprise to Bill Belichick, though.
Talking on “The Pat McAfee Show,” the legendary head coach questioned the Bears’ thought process when it came to building their roster.
“I don’t know if the way that the Bears put their team together is the way to do it,” said Belichick. “You go out and get all these weapons and you have no pass protection. They play in a city that you know is gonna be tough to throw in at the end of the season.”

He argued that, given how tough it is to play and throw the football in Chicago late in the season, they should’ve addressed their offensive line and bolstered their running game instead.
That makes perfect sense, and he might know a thing or two about building a roster, given all the hardware he won as the New England Patriots’ coach and decision-maker.
The Bears have a lot of talent at their disposal, but they haven’t maximized it.
They need to find the right coach to help and develop Caleb Williams, who also needs to mature and be more of a leader.
But more than that, they will need to address their big need for offensive line help, as they cannot run the ball at all, and Williams is constantly running for his life.
