Former Coach Believes Aaron Rodgers Wants To Leave The Jets

The New York Jets went into this season with Super Bowl expectations, but just about everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong and they now sit at 4-11 heading into a pair of tough AFC East matchups to close out the year, starting in Week 17 at the Buffalo Bills.

Many fingers have been pointed at Aaron Rodgers for how this season has unfolded, which has put his future with the team in doubt, and one former Jets head coach recently said he believes the quarterback is at the point where he wants to leave the franchise.

“He’s trying to shoot his way out of New York. To me, as soon as you start making fun of the owner, and as soon as you start making fun of the owner’s son, and as soon as you start legitimizing dysfunction in the organization, that’s about as big a shots fired as you can take,” Eric Mangini said on “First Things First.”

The shots Mangini was referring to center around a recent report that suggested the teenage sons of Jets owner Woody Johnson have influence over roster decisions, with the biggest example being how the team reportedly passed on trading for wide receiver Jerry Jeudy due to his mediocre Madden rating.

Rodgers joked about the report on his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” and laughed about how he has never been released before, and it would be funny if a teenager was the first one to cut him.

There’s no predicting what is next for the 41-year-old, but statistically, he’s having a solid season and will likely get a chance somewhere next year, whether that’s with the Jets or not.
