Fans and analysts seem to try and find historic player comparisons for current professional athletes.
Even when it might seem like they are trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, these comparisons are often made, if for nothing else than to generate clicks.
It’s unclear if Paul Pierce made a recent comparison for media attention or if it’s how he genuinely feels, but he made the statement nonetheless.
He recently compared Josh Allen to Michael Jordan in a segment of “Speak” on FS1, highlighting how important Allen has been to the Buffalo Bills this season.
“He is the unquestioned best player on his team and for them to win, he has to be at his best… Lamar has Henry to lean on,” Pierce said.

While Allen has a long way to go before he can begin to draw entire comparisons to what Jordan did during his time in the NBA, his performance this season has impressed Pierce.
Allen is in the heart of the MVP race with Lamar Jackson, but as Pierce said, Jackson has a lot of talented players at his disposal, namely, Derrick Henry, who has been a force to be reckoned with.
The Bills have dealt with numerous injuries up and down their lineup, but Allen has made it work with the healthy players on the roster.
He might not win MVP this season, but if the Bills make a deep playoff run and a potential Super Bowl appearance, his efforts will be well worth it.
