The Chicago Bears might be in trouble.
Despite some optimism to start the year, their record has not been encouraging this season, and they are in the middle of a losing streak.
Caleb Williams has looked promising, but even the highly touted rookie hasn’t been able to bring this team out of their rut.
Matt Eberflus was fired earlier in the season, leaving the Bears slated to conduct a head coaching search in the offseason, hoping to find someone to spark Williams’ development.
Albert Breer provided the latest on this situation in a conversation ahead of Thursday Night Football.
“It’s become abundantly clear over the last week that, if it’s not a quarterbacks guy specifically, they’re going to be looking for someone with a clear plan for their quarterback. And that brings us to Ben Johnson,” Breer said.

Breer indicated that the Bears are seeking someone who can make a difference for this team, especially helping Williams take the next step as a passer and signal caller.
Ben Johnson has been a top head coaching candidate for the past few offseasons, as he has helped the Detroit Lions take marked strides.
He could be a logical fit for this team, especially considering how much the Lions’ offense has improved.
The Bears will likely take a widespread approach to their coaching search, wanting to find the best candidate to lead this young team for the foreseeable future.
If they find the right person for the job, this could be the jumpstart the Bears need to re-ignite the locker room and fanbase.
