Some feel the current level of play across the NFL is rather lackluster, but the league does feature at least three quarterbacks whom people will long remember as being truly special.

One of them may not take part in this season’s playoffs, but he is still someone who is thought of very highly across the league.

Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals has been considered an elite quarterback for the last few years, and Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph gave him some serious praise by comparing him to Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

“He’s the best. It’s like going against Tom or Peyton,” said Joseph.

Burrow’s numbers and overall play may not be the most dazzling, but he’s a steady producer who remains calm and even-keeled, even under intense pressure.

That ability to remain calm and steady has also earned him comparisons to another legendary quarterback — a man by the name of Joe Montana, who made a living in the 1980s by treating crunch time in the Super Bowl as if it were a Saturday afternoon in his backyard.

Although the Bengals have a disappointing 7-8 record and are on the verge of being eliminated from playoff contention, Burrow has thrown for 4,229 yards and 39 touchdowns and leads everyone in both categories.

Their big problem this season has been their defense — they rank near the bottom of the league in several metrics, including points allowed, yards given up and first downs allowed.

With the uncertainty surrounding the contract situations of wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, a strong 2025 season is far from a certainty for Cincinnati.
