There has been much reporting about the Chicago Bulls cutting ties with Lonzo Ball soon, presumably before the upcoming NBA trade deadline.
He’s a talented guard, but with his lengthy history of injuries, what do the Bulls expect to get in a trade for him?
According to Joe Cowley, per NBACentral, the Bulls are seeking an expiring contract and a few second-round picks in a potential trade for Ball.
Cowley wrote:
“A solid next few weeks from Ball could start generating some interest, especially because he is working on an expiring contract, and all the Bulls would be looking to do is swap an expiring contract as well as grabbing a few possible second rounders in the deal.”

During his 12 games this season, Ball has averaged 5.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists.
It’s been a long, complicated period in Chicago, but it seems clear that the time has come for both sides to walk away from each other.
Ball missed two seasons because of a knee injury that couldn’t be solved.
He’s finally back this year, but has missed games and is no longer the team’s starting guard.
Although the Bulls were loyal during his lengthy absence, they obviously created a new path without him and that is why they aren’t going to hold onto him much longer.
And for this asking price, they could probably find a willing team that could take on Ball and view him as a supporting backup guard.
Ball may not be at 100 percent right now, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be again in the future, as long as he can stay healthy.
Therefore, he could provide a sizeable boost to a team’s second unit or even be a starter again for the right team.
