Russell Wilson Spent Over 50k On Christmas Gifts For His Teammates

With Christmas almost here, players across the NFL, especially quarterbacks, have been buying and giving extravagant gifts to their teammates.

Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers got his offensive linemen new Toyota vehicles, and Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback Russell Wilson was also in a very giving mood this week.

He spent over $50,000 on presents for his teammates, and each of them got an Airbnb card for $10,000, Louis Vuitton duffel bags, custom shoes and a bottle of rum.

Wilson is experiencing a bit of a resurgence after two dismal seasons with the Denver Broncos in 2022 and 2023 that led many to feel he may have been washed up.

Through nine games, he has thrown for 2,129 yards and 15 touchdowns against just four interceptions, and he has guided the Steelers to a 10-5 record despite not having a ton of weapons at the skill positions.

The Steelers seemed to have created a quarterback controversy before the season started when they also traded for Justin Fields, and after Wilson was named the starter, he injured his calf prior to Week 1, which led to Fields starting their first six games.

When Wilson became healthy, head coach Mike Tomlin went against the wishes of many and made the difficult decision to go with Wilson under center.

It has paid off, as Pittsburgh now has a real shot at finishing first in the AFC North, something they haven’t done since 2020, which was the second-to-last season for Ben Roethlisberger, the last true franchise quarterback they had.
