Panthers Have Made A Decision About Starting QB For Rest Of Season

The Carolina Panthers will continue to roll with Bryce Young at quarterback.

The No. 1 overall pick from the 2023 NFL Draft had lost his starting job, but it now seems like they’re ready to stick with him.

Panthers head coach Dave Canales recently claimed to be very impressed with the way Young dealt with having a career-worst four turnovers in Week 15.

“You just keep going and you just take the next step and the next drive,” Canales said, via David Newton of ESPN.

Granted, it would’ve been better if Young hadn’t turned the ball over that many times to begin with.

However, we are talking about a young player, no pun intended.

When it comes to assessing a young quarterback, it’s more about development than numbers or the final score.

The fact of the matter is that Young has looked like an NFL player since returning from his brief stint on the bench.

Canales repeated multiple times in the offseason that Young was his guy, and though benching him for veteran Andy Dalton raised plenty of doubts and criticism, it may have proved to be the right decision.

Young has looked more comfortable and in control of the offense over the past six weeks, even though that hasn’t translated into many wins.

The Panthers have kept games close against some very good teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, and their offense has been much better.

But there’s still a long way to go with this player and this team.

But it seems like Canales may be a quarterback whisperer, and it’ll be interesting to see what he can accomplish with Young going forward.
