The Washington Commanders have had their fair share of struggles for many years.
Fans have blamed ownership, coaching, the players, and everything in between, but regardless of the reason, things haven’t been positive for the Commanders in recent seasons.
They were in desperate need of a new quarterback to lead the offense, turning to Jayden Daniels in this year’s draft to help them take the next step.
While some viewed him as a raw prospect, the Commanders believed in the young QB, which has paid off to this point in the season.
Similar to what C.J. Stroud did with the Houston Texans last year, Daniels has been a difference-maker for the Commanders since he made his first start.
Magic Johnson, a member of the Commanders’ ownership group, talked about Daniels’ impact in a recent segment of “Speak” on FS1.
“He’s turned the Commanders franchise around,” Johnson said.

Johnson understands what Daniels has done thus far, but also knows that the job isn’t finished yet.
Daniels still needs to lead the Commanders to a playoff spot in his rookie season, and after that, this team is playing with house money.
Teams might feel like they have a certain edge or momentum in the regular season, but the postseason is a different animal.
The Green Bay Packers, for example, were the seventh seed in the playoffs, but they found a way to win their Wild Card matchup and nearly beat the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.
Teams can’t be counted out once they get to the playoffs, and Daniels and the Commanders are ready to prove what they can do in a must-win situation.
