Embiid sustained the injury during the 76ers’ 121-107 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday night.
The 2023 NBA MVP was hit in the bridge of the nose late in the second quarter by Indiana’s Bennedict Mathurin. Embiid dropped to the court and remained down as play continued.
Embiid was playing in just his sixth game of the season. He has been bothered by swelling in his left knee and also served a three-game suspension for a physical incident with a reporter.
Embiid also has had a number of face injuries, including an orbital bone fracture after a collision with then-Raptor Pascal Siakam during the 2022 playoffs and one in 2018 after colliding with teammate Markelle Fultz. Last year, Embiid had Bell’s Palsy during a first-round playoff loss to New York.
The 76ers are 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 7-16 record and visit the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night.
