The New York Jets have been a mess during the 2024 NFL season as they made a few last-gasp moves to try to turn their fortunes around.
Despite having Aaron Rodgers back, the quarterback hasn’t quite looked like himself as he’s been unable to keep the offense moving consistently.
New York tried to salvage its season by firing former head coach Robert Saleh, but interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich has fared much worse.
The Jets will be in the market for a head coach this offseason, and there were some reports of former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick expressing interest in the job before he ultimately signed with the University of North Carolina.
However, people on social media aren’t buying that Belichick was actually considering coaching the Jets.
I still don’t believe Bill Belichick would ever coach the Jets.
Regardless of the report today, but Bill did make the playoffs with Mac Jones in 2021.
The Jets haven’t been to the playoffs since the 2010 season. 😉
Bill would’ve had the Jets in the playoffs this year. https://t.co/TJMLSs77JR

Does anyone really believe Bill Belichick, who just a few weeks ago went on ESPN and ripped Woody Johnson for firing Saleh, now wanted Woody to interview him for the Jets job? We are all such fools.

Nah there’s absolutely no way Bill actually wanted to coach the Jets. Maybe he did call. Maybe he didn’t. Not disputing the accuracy of the report. But this was def some scheme from Bill to make the Jets look stupid lol. No one hates the New York Jets more than Bill Belichick https://t.co/T83zmUcWVD

I don’t buy the reported Belichick interest in the #Jets prior to taking the UNC job. That is all. #JetUp

There was some buzz when Belichick’s name was tied to the Jets, though the fan base seems to have already dismissed the possibility as nothing more than gossip.
Belichick was critical of owner Woody Johnson’s decision to fire Saleh and famously stepped away from the organization before landing with the Patriots.
It’s no issue now, as Belichick is off the market, which means the Jets will need to look in a different direction to fill their job.
Whoever they bring in will have their work cut out for them, given the uncertainty at quarterback, but there’s enough young talent on the roster to make the Jets appealing to someone.
