‘Red One’ Starring Dwayne Johnson Hits Streaming: How to Watch at Home

Prime Video has delivered an early holiday parcel to its streaming subscribers — the Christmas action movie Red One.

Streaming audiences both naughty and nice can watch the festive Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson team up less than a month after it premiered in theaters. The PG-13-rated film revolves around the abduction of Santa, portrayed by J.K. Simmons. The fate of Christmas comes down to Evans’ infamous bounty hunter and Johnson’s North Pole security head. The flick also includes Lucy Liu, a talking polar bear and some villains steeped in chilling folklore.

In addition to Red One, Prime Video’s collection of new holiday content includes the animated movie The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland (also streaming on Hulu), the comedy title Jack in Time for Christmas, Jeff Dunham’s Scrooged-Up Holiday Special and last year’s original film Candy Cane Lane. If you’re new to the streaming service, here’s what you need to know.

When to watch Red One on Prime Video

Want to stream the globe-trotting holiday film? Red One debuted on Prime Video on Thursday, Dec. 12.

Prime Video is one of the perks of an Amazon Prime membership, which costs $15 per month or $139 per year, but you can also get the streamer on its own for $9 per month. Red One isn’t yet available to rent digitally, but you can park your sleigh at a theater if you want to catch the comedy on a bigger screen.

Prime Video includes commercials by default as of Jan. 29 in the US. If you want to remove them, it costs $3 more per month regardless of if you have standalone Prime Video or a Prime membership. Here’s our recently updated review of the streaming service and the best TV shows to check out now.
