I’m a big fan of the New York Times Connections puzzle, often preferring it to Wordle. And here’s my hot take: I actually like when the purple category gets really weird and picks a topic like, “girls’ first names minus a letter,” or “1980s bands spelled backward,” or something like that. I may not always get that category, at least not right away, but when I see it revealed, I give the puzzle-makers a silent thumbs-up for being beautifully strange. Yes, that’s a hint for today, why do you ask?
