After nearly three years, Severance is back. The Emmy-winning thriller, created by writer and executive producer Dan Erickson and executive produced and directed by Ben Stiller, dropped a brand new trailer for season 2 at CCXP24 in São Paulo, Brazil on Saturday. With 10 new episodes set to drop on Apple TV Plus, the first of which is set to premiere on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, it’s time to refamiliarize ourselves with Lumon Industries and the mysteries that lie within.
Severance follows Mark Scout (Adam Scott) and his Macrodata Refinement teammates as they struggle to acclimate to their nightly realities as severed employees. Lumon Industries enacts the controversial procedure that surgically disconnects a person’s work identity from their personal one. Needless to say, this work-life balance presented the team with a whole series of issues in the first season, culminating in their daring breach of the severance barrier to communicate the in-office atrocities they faced with the outside world.
As we can see from the new trailer, the fallout from their actions has led to a new reform initiative inside Lumon. Yet, something tells us it’s all for show. With the revelation that Mark’s wife may be alive and trapped inside the company, a new set of stakes has been revealed for the team. By all accounts, it looks like season 2 of Severance will go to some dark places, and we are so here for it.
Joining Scott in the new season are Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, Emmy Award winner John Turturro, Academy Award winner Christopher Walken and Academy and Emmy Award winner Patricia Arquette. New series regulars for season 2 are Sarah Bock and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson.
