The San Francisco 49ers haven’t been at their best this season.
Of course, a lot of that has had to do with injuries.
They’ve lost some of their best players, some of them for the season.
Notably, that includes Brandon Aiyuk, who starred in a months-long stand-off with the organization to get a big-money deal and got hurt shortly after.
Even so, Aiyuk has stayed close to his team and the football scene.
That’s why he called out his teammate and quarterback, Brock Purdy, after his Arizona State Sun Devils took down Purdy’s Iowa State Cyclones in the Big 12 Championship Game on Saturday (via Our SF 49ers).

Aiyuk poked fun at his quarterback after the win, and he’ll get bragging rights over him until further notice.
As for getting back on the field, he’ll have to wait until next season.
There have been some rumblings about Purdy’s future as the team’s quarterback.
Like some of his teammates, he’s struggled with injuries this season, but some claimed that his benching also affected his performance.
Purdy has been the best quarterback they’ve had in years, but some still doubt whether he’s the kind of player they need to lead them to a Super Bowl title.
He’s left plenty to be desired when his star players get hurt.
With a big contract extension looming and the Niners getting older and more expensive, they will have to be 100% sure that they want him there for the long run.
