He’s a Hall of Famer, a 12-time All-Star, a three-time champion, and a three-time MVP.
And on Saturday, Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird was the birthday boy.
The Celtics celebrated Bird’s 68th birthday on Saturday morning with a nice shout-out to “Larry Legend” on X.
No matter his age and no matter how long ago he retired, Bird is still one of the most important NBA players of all time.

During his 13 years in the league, Bird averaged 24.3 points and 10.0 rebounds.
By many, especially Boston fans, Bird is still considered perhaps the greatest player of all time.
During his first season with the Celtics in 1979-80, Bird averaged 21.3 points and 10.4 rebounds, winning Rookie of the Year and reviving the Celtics.
That was just the start of his historic career.
What followed were the additions of Kevin McHale and Robert Parish in the years ahead and a wonderful era for Celtics basketball.
He never left the Celtics and is still one of the most talked-about and celebrated franchise players ever.
But after he retired from playing, Bird still stayed close to the NBA.
He was head coach of the Indiana Pacers for several years and remains tied to the league.
On top of that, he was also part of the 1992 Dream Team that won a gold medal for America at the Olympics in Barcelona.
Bird hasn’t played professional basketball since 1992, but he is still viewed as Celtics royalty, and the fans are sure to celebrate his birthday every year, as well as the amazing career he had.
