After 24 seasons of coaching the New England Patriots, which yielded six Super Bowl championships, Bill Belichick has spent this season off the sidelines.
However, there has been lots of speculation that the 72-year-old wants to return to coaching and that it is simply a matter of time and which team he wants to take over.
It has generally been thought he wants another NFL head coaching job, but he reportedly has talked to the University of North Carolina about becoming its head coach, signaling he may be looking for any type of coaching opportunity.
“It was explained that Belichick is open to both the NFL and college football. He’s not ruling anything out,” Dianna Russini of The Athletic wrote on X.
Bill Belichick had conversations with UNC about their head coaching position.

There is no doubt that Belichick is the hottest commodity on the head coaching market these days due to the massive success he had in New England.
Granted, his coaching record has been mediocre when he hasn’t had Tom Brady as his starting quarterback, but the belief is that if he has a good quarterback and a quality defense, he will get good results.
There will be a number of NFL teams that will have openings this offseason, and Belichick could have some interesting options if he prefers to remain in the pros.
One destination some have talked about is the Dallas Cowboys, a team that has had plenty of talent in recent years but hasn’t made it to the NFC Championship Game since the 1995 season.
It remains to be seen if Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would be willing to cede some of the spotlight to Belichick for the good of his franchise.
