The New York Yankees fell just short of winning their 28th World Series championship in franchise history.
With the offseason upon us, the Yankees have a new battle on their hands as they try to bring back superstar free agent outfielder Juan Soto.
Soto’s status has taken over the baseball world as of late, with plenty of rumors circulating about how much he could sign for and who has the best shot at landing him.
Former Detroit Tigers general manager Al Avila recently revealed who he thinks has the best shot at signing Soto.
“I do believe that the Yankees have the best shot. I do believe that’s a great fit for Soto,” Avila said, via MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.
The Juan Soto sweepstakes could reportedly come to a close this week.
Will he return to The Bronx, or will he join a new team in 2025?

Soto proved he was a good fit with the Yankees in 2024 as they won the American League East and made a postseason run in his first season with the team.
The top free agent in this year’s class has caught the attention of many big-market teams, including the Yankees, New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Soto put up some big numbers in his first season in New York as he batted .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs and a .989 OPS.
The Yankees want nothing more than to bring back Soto, but it may come down to which team offers him the most money.
Although the Yankees have a lot of money to offer, Mets owner Steve Cohen also has that ability.
