Eater Award Winners for 2024: Best New Restaurants, Bars, Pop-Ups, and More

What does 2024 taste like? Just ask Eater’s local city editors who’ve been tirelessly scouring their regions — from sampling Boston’s premier bakery for ube brownies to test-driving San Diego’s stellar yakitori experiences — in search of the best dining experiences. These places represent the trends and triumphs of the past year: family-run legends for which word-of-mouth won over social media. Resurrected restaurants. Top-notch taquerias. The uniting factor is the quality of the food, drink, and service, as well as the way these places contribute to the fabric of their communities.

Five awardees in each of 20 cities receive Eater’s custom-wrapped tomato can award for feeding and inspiring locals and travelers in their cities. Recipients this year include a genuine destination-worthy Italian bar in Miami’s truly overcrowded Italian dining scene, a globe-trotting bartender who distilled San Francisco’s neighborhoods into cocktails, and a successfully revamped legacy restaurant in Durham, North Carolina. In addition to Italian cuisine, Lao food is having a moment in cities across the country, and chefs of all stripes are delving more into corn — in desserts, scratch-made masa, and hot drinks. Join Eater in celebrating this year’s most superlative hospitality experiences from coast to coast.
