Adam Schefter Reveals Job Status Updates On John Lynch, Kyle Shanahan

The San Francisco 49ers had championship aspirations coming into the 2024 NFL season after an overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

With the 49ers as talented as any team in the league on both sides of the football while also having one of the best head coaches in the game, competing for a title this season made a lot of sense.

Unfortunately, the 2024 campaign has been a nightmare for the 49ers, as the team hasn’t been able to stay healthy from Week 1 up to Week 13.

Now, things haven’t gotten worse with running back Christian McCaffrey going down with a season-ending injury in the Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

With San Francisco unlikely to make the playoffs, the job status of general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan has been put into question, a situation ESPN insider Adam Schefter addressed recently.

“If they want to move on from John Lynch or Kyle Shanahan — which I have gotten zero indication that they want to do — how quickly do you think it would be before another team would want to hire both of them?” Schefter said on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

With the 49ers still boasting a very talented roster, San Francisco could bounce back next season and return to contending status sooner rather than later.

That said, it would be a drastic move to fire Shanahan and Lynch, who are among the best in the league at what they do.
