It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Trevor Lawrence.
After returning from a two-game absence on Sunday to take on the Houston Texans, the Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback exited midway through the second quarter due to a concussion, the team announced.
Lawrence suffered the injury after taking a hit from Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair while sliding for a first down.
The former first-overall pick was carted off the field while Al-Shaair was flagged on the play and then subsequently ejected.
Before any of that, however, a brawl between the two teams ensured following the play as Jaguars players took exception to the hit on their starting QB.
Jacksonville later confirmed that Lawrence would not return.
The 25-year-old had already missed the team’s previous two games with a shoulder injury. Before Sunday, Lawrence had played in all nine games this year, racking up 2004 yards, 11 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
The 2-7 Jaguars will now look to snap a four-game skid without Lawrence.
